Elbie joined Analytics Consulting in January 2018 as a senior investment consultant. She started her career in 2000 as a junior equity portfolio manager after which she joined an agricultural export company as a financial and management accountant. From 2002 to 2016 she lectured at the University of Pretoria in Investment Management teaching predominantly portfolio management, derivatives and risk management. With an interest in unit trusts and pension fund regulation, Elbie completed her MCom(Financial Management Sciences) and PhD (Financial Management Sciences) in 2012 and 2016 respectively with these topics as the focus.

During her academic career, she maintained her involvement in private sector and industry related activities ranging from investment management training, financial statement analysis for McGregor BFA (now IRESS) and involvement in the Quarterly Unit Trust Survey published by Prof Hugo Lambrechts (University of Pretoria). She started consulting to and serving on the Investment Committee of Amity Wealth(now Amity Investment Solutions) in 2012 after which she joined permanently in 2016. Elbie served on the board of CFA South Africa from 2007 to 2011 and as president from 2010 to 2011
